Diigo is a website that allows users to highlight, bookmark, and attach notes to any part of a web page.   I learned how to use the website and collaborate with others by viewing their bookmarked articles and adding to their annotations.  This application can be useful in my future classroom for projects and homework assignments.  Students can review bookmarked articles and notes for studying.  Students can also share information with others when they work on group projects.  I can personally use this website for networking and communicating my ideas with other teachers. I can use PowerPoint to support student learning at each level of Bloom's Taxonomy.  The bottom level is called "remember".  PowerPoints can be used to help students review information and practice memorizing terms and definitions while they study.  The next level is "understand."  PowerPoints can also explain ideas and concepts to a class.  Information provided c...
I like Twitter so far.  It's a good tool for getting short and important messages across to a large group of people.  It's also helpful for keeping up with news stories and events.  I have learned how to interact with other accounts on Twitter through retweeting and liking other people's messages.  I haven't experienced any issues yet. I haven't completed the Web Design assignment yet because the deadline was moved to next week but I will discuss it and add the link to my next blog post. Assistive technologies is defined as a type of equipment that helps improve the functional capabilities of a child with a disability.  Adaptive technology is designed only to help people with disabilities function better.  Assistive technology includes technology that can be utilized by people without disabilities as well as people with disabilities.  In first grade one of my classmates had disabilities and used a custom wheelchair and a tablet to communicate becau...
ILP Design- Edmodo Voice Thread https://new.edmodo.com/home I chose to do Edmodo for my ILP Design project.  Edmodo is an online resource that allows teachers to share content, links, assignments and quizzes with their students.  I acted like an 11th grade A.P. U.S. History teacher for my Edmodo.  I focused on the civil war and created a quiz, poll and I linked videos and websites in the helpful links folder.
I like Diigo because it makes collaborating easier.  The tools were easy to use and they worked well.  I originally didn't like how we had to download an extension in order to use the program.  However, it didn't take long and was easy to figure out. I like blogging and it wasn't too difficult to figure out.  I can definitely see myself continuing to use it when I am a teacher.  It is a good tool for easily communicating information to a larger audience. A web 2.0 tool can be used to reinforce a concept taught in class.  I want to use YouTube when I am a teacher.  Some of my teachers used YouTube in high school and I would watch the videos that we saw in class in order to help me study for exams.  I found YouTube to be really helpful because it allowed me to study just by listening and I could use the app anywhere.  YouTube is really easy to use and it's pretty simple to find videos about any subject or topic.  However, I will make s...
I have been interacting with history accounts on Twitter.  I have found it beneficial because, it's easy to learn and find new history facts.  There are also a lot of accounts with information about testing and colleges.  Twitter would be helpful in my future career because it will allow me to stay connected with students.  It will also help me stay up to date with current events.  Furthermore, I will be able to relate to my students more. The digital divide is the gap between students that have more access to the internet and technology compared to those who have less access.  This affects students in schools become some children might not be able to do some assignments or projects at home if they don't have access to the internet, cell phones, laptops or printers.  Some causes of the digital divide are socio-economic barriers.  For example, some families have less money than others, some parents don't want their children to have phones an...

I will be teaching high school or college students so I feel most prepared to teach them speaking and communication skills.  At that point in their education I should not be teaching them to read at their grade level so that standard doesn't really apply to me.  Teaching technology will require more learning on my part because software is constantly updating and advancing.  Therefore, I have to make sure that I personally stay up to date with all the new advancements.  I remember having teachers in school that knew less about technology than their students.  This caused some students to look down up their teachers as a result.  I want to avoid being in that situation. The resource in the CPALMS Educator Toolkit that I found to be the most applicable to my future career is the 51 original Tutorials for Social Studies.  This resource has a lot of links to videos covering different topics in U.S. history.  Each link has multiple videos attached to ...
As a student, I've used Microsoft Word as a tool to write papers and do research papers.  I've used it for almost every essay I've been assigned to write in school.  The spellcheck and grammar check features have allowed my writing to be more free of errors than it would be if I just hand wrote everything.  My teachers in the past have used Microsoft Word for rubrics or assignment instructions.  They also used it to create tests and quizzes. In order to avoid copyright issues I have cited my sources in the past through bibliographies and links.  I also don't copy information word for word from sources that I use.  As a teacher I will probably use Turnitin in order to make sure that my students don't copy.  I will also require them to cite their sources. A solution to Cyber bullying in schools would be to allow students to report it anonymously.  A solution to privacy issues would be to add passwords to student's accounts and then make their ac...
