I will be teaching high school or college students so I feel most prepared to teach them speaking and communication skills.  At that point in their education I should not be teaching them to read at their grade level so that standard doesn't really apply to me.  Teaching technology will require more learning on my part because software is constantly updating and advancing.  Therefore, I have to make sure that I personally stay up to date with all the new advancements.  I remember having teachers in school that knew less about technology than their students.  This caused some students to look down up their teachers as a result.  I want to avoid being in that situation.

The resource in the CPALMS Educator Toolkit that I found to be the most applicable to my future career is the 51 original Tutorials for Social Studies.  This resource has a lot of links to videos covering different topics in U.S. history.  Each link has multiple videos attached to it.  The videos also inform the teacher about how many standards and components it covers.  This would be useful in the classroom because I could use the videos to reinforce what I'm teaching.  The students could also use the videos to study on their own.

The Newsletter Design assignment taught me how to add borders to just one side of a document.  It also taught me how to organize digital information in a way that is visually pleasing.  I didn't like how the assignment was so structured because I 'm creative and I like to organize things in my own way.  However, I think my newsletter still came out well.  I liked how I was able to add images to it.  In the future I will continue to work on improving my newsletter for parents and students.  Newsletters can keep families informed about what's going on in school and it's important to keep them well organized and easy to understand.

  1. I think you mentioned a very interesting point: if teachers cannot keep up with the tech, students may look upon on them. It seems that the teacher need to always stay with the most advanced tech. However, I believe that it is more important to develop problem-solving skills than learning specific techniques. Technology evolve constantly but the purpose will stay the same.
