Blog 10 I will use surveys as a teacher to find out what activities students find the most effective. Surveys are also helpful for receiving feedback from students at the end of the semester or year. Surveys could help me figure out what students want to review, and what material they feel confident about. Reporting grades into Excel will help me assess students's strengths and weaknesses. Excel also makes grading more time efficient. I plan on teaching high school and college history. I will have a lot of students, therefore surveys and Excel reporting will make it much easier to stay organized. I really enjoyed reading the first blogs on my classmates's pages. I liked learning about everyone's goals and majors. I also enjoyed learning about people's varying backgrounds in technology. Most of us started out this class with background knowledge from social media and Microsoft. I liked hearing about my classmates's opinions on th...

Journal 9 "The Flipped Classroom" is the idea that teaching should be accessed outside of class often online and at home. It deals with bringing homework and questions into the classroom and allows students to review outside of class at home. I had a really good history teacher that used this method and recorded herself teaching a slideshow and then posted it online for students to take notes on at home. Open Educational Resources publish lesson plans and courses online. The online resource linked below discusses how OER can be used for free while improving the quality of learning within the United States. This link also explains ideas about how Online Educational Resources can be used. Online Educational Resources article I learned how to record myself speaking for a PowerPoint slideshow from Assignment 4. I liked how I was able to pick the topic that I was teaching, but I had technical difficulties with recording so I don't know if this meth...

Diigo is a website that allows users to highlight, bookmark, and attach notes to any part of a web page. I learned how to use the website and collaborate with others by viewing their bookmarked articles and adding to their annotations. This application can be useful in my future classroom for projects and homework assignments. Students can review bookmarked articles and notes for studying. Students can also share information with others when they work on group projects. I can personally use this website for networking and communicating my ideas with other teachers. I can use PowerPoint to support student learning at each level of Bloom's Taxonomy. The bottom level is called "remember". PowerPoints can be used to help students review information and practice memorizing terms and definitions while they study. The next level is "understand." PowerPoints can also explain ideas and concepts to a class. Information provided c...

I like Twitter so far. It's a good tool for getting short and important messages across to a large group of people. It's also helpful for keeping up with news stories and events. I have learned how to interact with other accounts on Twitter through retweeting and liking other people's messages. I haven't experienced any issues yet. I haven't completed the Web Design assignment yet because the deadline was moved to next week but I will discuss it and add the link to my next blog post. Assistive technologies is defined as a type of equipment that helps improve the functional capabilities of a child with a disability. ILP Design- Edmodo Voice Thread https://new.edmodo.com/home I chose to do Edmodo for my ILP Design project. Edmodo is an online resource that allows teachers to share content, links, assignments and quizzes with their students. I acted like an 11th grade A.P. U.S. History teacher for my Edmodo. I focused on the civil war and created a quiz, poll and I linked videos and websites in the helpful links folder.

I like Diigo because it makes collaborating easier. The tools were easy to use and they worked well. I originally didn't like how we had to download an extension in order to use the program. However, it didn't take long and was easy to figure out. I like blogging and it wasn't too difficult to figure out. I can definitely see myself continuing to use it when I am a teacher. It is a good tool for easily communicating information to a larger audience. A web 2.0 tool can be used to reinforce a concept taught in class. I want to use YouTube when I am a teacher. Some of my teachers used YouTube in high school and I would watch the videos that we saw in class in order to help me study for exams. I found YouTube to be really helpful because it allowed me to study just by listening and I could use the app anywhere. YouTube is really easy to use and it's pretty simple to find videos about any subject or topic. However, I will make s...
